.The story for the Magic starts a bit later than most of the other teams, they have joined the league in 1985 and have had some legendary players in their roster. The first years since they joined the league they didn’t have any noteworthy successes. However, in the 1992 draft, they had the first pick and they decided to draft Shaquille O’Neal, and his impact was immediate. They were lucky yet again in the next year’s draft, as they had the first pick, and with that pick they chose Chris Webber but decided to trade him for Anfernee Hardaway and 3 future, 1st round draft picks. The height of success for them came in the 1994-95 season, where they signed Horace Grant and they became the best team in the Eastern Conference.
With this squad, they reached the NBA Finals but were ultimately defeated by the Houston Rockets, four games to zero. When Shaquille O’Neal left the franchise in 1996 it was a blow that crushed their hopes of winning a title and it would take a couple of years, when they signed Tracy McGrady who became a dominant scorer. Despite this, McGrady couldn’t lead them to a title and they would have to wait until 2009 to reach the NBA Finals again, but this time lead by Dwight Howard. They lost the Finals four games to one.
