About the initiative
Description of the initiative
Build a secure, scalable AI platform that extends the Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and enables DFO teams to develop, deploy and govern AI solutions that will accelerate insights, support scientific discovery and uphold the highest standards of data quality, security, and ethical use.
Problem statement
Despite individual business teams experimenting with AI for years, the organization lacks a unified, enterprise‑grade platform to reliably deploy, scale, and operate AI solutions in production. This gap prevents AI initiatives from moving beyond isolated prototypes and limits the ability to deliver secure, governed, and scalable AI capabilities across the enterprise.

Bucket rationale
The initiative’s primary focus is enabling AI adoption at an enterprise level, rather than delivering AI outputs for a specific operational or analytical task. Key elements that align it with Infrastructure and Enablement: • Building a secure, scalable AI platform that supports multiple teams • Extending the Enterprise Data Hub for enterprise-wide AI deployment • Enabling development, deployment, governance, and ethical oversight of AI solutions • Addressing organizational gaps in production-ready AI capabilities This aligns perfectly with the definition: Supporting systems and services that make AI possible and scalable. Not use cases in and of themselves, but enabling and governing AI use cases to exist safely, ethically, and efficiently. Although the platform will accelerate insights and scientific discovery, these outputs are secondary; the initiative’s value is in the foundation, governance, and scaling of AI across DFO.
